Welcome to the Automotive Systems Research Group

The Automotive Systems Research Group (ASRG) conducts research and provides commercial services, which focus on the advancement and application of automotive technologies. Core competencies include automotive control networks, automotive hardware & software, sensors, engine efficiency, formal verification and aerodynamics.

Please refer to www.TTCAN.com for more detailed information regarding the activities of the ASRG group.

Vision

The Automotive Systems Research Group is one of the leading research and development facility for automotive systems in Ireland.

The Automotive Systems Research Group has a firm foundation of faculty members, diverse expertise (mathematics, materials, chemistry and physics) and a significant number of students. The main research activities of emphasis are engine management/efficiency and automotive software.

The long term vision has a number of dimensions:

  • To strengthen existing links, and form new links, with industry through funded research and commercial activities
  • To realise a diverse funding model from multiple sources
  • To be recognised as one of the foremost research centres in automotive technologies in Europe
  • To generate and commercialise Intellectual Property
  • To publish high quality academic papers
Research

The Automotive Research Group has been established to consolidate and publicise the automotive research and development activities which have taken place within CSRC and by associated groups in collaboration with CSRC. This group was established in 2005 and the majority of its historical precedence for formation is a result of the activities of the Real-Time Distributed Control group.

The current research and development acrtivities are a continuation and expansion of prior activities, which include: automotive network communication protocols; formal verification of communication protocols and embedded systems; x-by-wire technology; network gateways; research on engine efficiency and emissions reduction; fault tolerant system design; migration of automotive technology to spacecraft/sensor networks/etc and participation in standards bodies.
